Vice President of Research

Job description

FP Analytics, the research and advisory division of Foreign Policy, is seeking a full-time Vice President to join our research team. The VP of Research will scope, manage, and lead large-scale research projects, conduct quantitative and qualitative research, design statistical and financial models, manage complex data sets, and perform advanced data analytics to generate new insights and actionable intelligence for our clients. The VP of Research will also be responsible for drafting proprietary and public reports and presentations as well as managing and working collaboratively with other team members. We are seeking a highly motivated, communicative, and collaborative team member that is committed to the organization’s mission and will bring professionalism, analytical rigor, and creativity to our work.

In this role you'll be responsible for:

  • Scoping, managing and leading large-scale research projects
  • Overseeing and working collaboratively with the research team
  • Conducting desktop and primary research and analysis as needed across a range of international policy issues and sectors
  • Monitoring and analyzing legislation and regulations pertaining to a range of industries and subject matters
  • Collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data from a range of sources; conducting economic trend analysis; economic impact modeling; statistical and financial analysis
  • Producing rapid response briefs on breaking policy issues
  • Preparing client presentations, policy briefs, and in-depth reports

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in international relations, economics or public policy, MBA, or equivalent level of training
  • A minimum of ten years of relevant professional experience, including prior research project design and project management
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. 
  • Proven track record of high-quality qualitative and quantitative research, analytical rigor, and attention to detail
  • Excellent English Language writing skills and ability to write for business and policy-oriented audiences in a clear, concise, and compelling manner
  • Comfort presenting and interacting with senior executives
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver projects on time and on or under budget
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint
