Executive Producer - FP Live

Job description

Foreign Policy (FP) is looking for a media executive to run and grow FP Live, the magazine’s destination for live journalism, events, and newsmaker interviews. The Executive Producer will work closely with FP’s events and editorial teams to curate timely discussions on international affairs, both virtually and in person. This position can be based in either New York or Washington D.C.

The ideal candidate will have experience with events as well as media. The role will involve not only staying on top of the global news cycle but also being able to book high-profile speakers and produce a lively and smart discussion. As with any leadership role in event management, candidates must be good problem solvers, work well under pressure, and be adaptable. A good rolodex is a plus. The ability to conjure up ideas and frame interesting foreign-policy discussions is a key to being successful in this role. Candidates will have demonstrated management experience and be able to work well with speakers and sponsors alike.

Responsibilities include:

  • Generate ideas and propose and book speakers for FP Live events.

  • Assist in developing content for FP’s sponsored virtual dialogues, summits, and in-person events.

  • Work closely with FP’s editorial, events, and product teams to produce and promote all live programming.

Requirements

  • A background in international journalism, preferably with experience in events and TV news.

  • A demonstrated interest in key foreign-policy issues and experts.

  • Experience with the production and stagecraft of live video and events.

  • Superior writing and speaking skills, as well as the ability to promote content across FP’s platforms.

  • Strategic thinker who is creative, innovative, and resourceful.

  • High-energy with a roll-up-your-sleeves, get-it-done mentality.

  • Ability to motivate and lead cross-functional teams to drive results.
