Events Manager - Audience Development

Job description

Foreign Policy (FP), the global leader in geopolitical news and analysis, is looking for an Events Audience Development Manager to support the marketing and growth of FP Events.  The successful candidate will have a background or interest in geopolitical issues relevant to FP’s audience and clients and a readiness to stay current on trends related to digital marketing and audience development/engagement. The person in this role will have a knack for effectively synthesizing complex topics into compelling, digestible messaging. This position requires strong attention to detail as well as the ability to juggle multiple project streams and shifting priorities.

The person in this position will:

  • Support the planning and execution of comprehensive marketing campaigns for all FP Events, including email, social, and digital promotions
  • Collaborate with the design team on creative needs

  • Ensure distribution of creative assets among all relevant event stakeholders

  • Build and manage event landing pages, registration pages, and email promos

  • Gather, record, and disseminate performance metrics related to registration, audience tracking, social engagement, and pre/post-event evaluations

  • Curate and manage the audience database and assist with efforts to integrate it into FP’s events CRM


  • Support client relations and handle requests related to promotional aspects of project delivery

  • Liaise internally with colleagues on event status updates and audience buildouts

  • Respond to or channel events-related requests from the audience and general public

  • Assist in the creation of other marketing assets, such as script development and production support for video sizzle reels, etc.


  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive

  • Familiarity with CMSs like WordPress, ESPs like PostUp, and adept in social media platforms and promotions

  • Strong writing and research skills with the ability to craft compelling marketing messages and engage audiences

  • Able to manage competing demands, prioritize effectively, and pivot quickly
