Foreign Policy (FP) is a magazine of global news and ideas. We explain Washington to the world and the world to Americans—and we do that by covering big trends in not only security and defense but also issues surrounding climate change, immigration, politics, culture, and more. FP is more than just a magazine: We have a research division that has been at the forefront of research on gender parity, 5G, security, and more. Our podcast division is flourishing and includes successful shows I Spy, And Now the Hard Part, and Don’t Touch Your Face. FP Events convenes top leaders in government, business, and civil society for critical and timely conversations on a wide range of topics.
FP Events is growing the scope, diversity, and reach of our programs. We have successfully launched and built out a robust virtual event program over the past year. We are continuing that trajectory while also introducing a “roadmap for re-entry” back to in-person events in late 2021 or early 2022. We’re seeking an Events Director to help us strategically and creatively by building on FP’s unique capabilities and strengths while continuing to set ourselves apart from the competition. This new position will enable us to meet new challenges and build capacity for continued growth.

Speaker curation and outreach: identify prospective speakers with an eye on curating high-level lineups that are on-topic, innovative, diverse, and will be an audience draw; ability to energetically and creatively track down and pursue target speakers globally
Oversee content development and delivery that meets specific event objectives /client priorities, while continuing to serve the interests of FP’s event audience and protecting the FP brand
Develop and maintain full-scale, detailed project plans to be used in tracking key project milestones and deliverables.
Collaborate and communicate cross-functionally to ensure buy-in and successful execution of event strategy (by the events team and other relevant FP staff /freelancers)

Make recommendations on internal event processes or technology, supporting configuration, testing, and execution
Help create and manage production schedules for virtual broadcasts (scripts, coordination with streaming/video production engineers)
